Pezfuerte

April 3rd Fishing Report

I saw boats anchored on the high spot of the seamount chumming sardines with yellowtail boiling all around them. Casting live baits or artificial swim baits into the boils was automatic bendo.
We also have Cabrilla and large Pargo mixed in. These fish are still pre spawn so I’m guessing we have a few more weeks of this before they move on to cooler waters.
Normally after the yellowtail move out we start getting into their larger cousins the brutal Pez Fuerte.

January 2022 Fishing Report

The majority of the fishing currently is with our spring species and patterns.
On the seamounts and rocky spots Yellowtail and Almaco Jacks, cousins to AmberJacks are being caught using live bait with either weights or downriggers. Both Cabrilla and Pargo Mulato are mixed in so it’s a nice variety. Once again we are finding Dorado in the bay. There was a few reports of Wahoo on the chew outside around Punta Norte and La Reina.

Surprising June Fishing Report

The variety of fish is mind boggling. The rooster fish are still cruising up and down the beaches; off the rocky slides around the island, small to medium size Pargo and cabrilla are on the chew. In the deeper waters on the mounts it’s a mixed bag. Cubera snapper, Cabrilla, Almaco Jacks, Pargo Colorado and yellow. The sargasso paddies are still floating around, he sargasso paddies are still floating around.
