August 21st! Fishing Report

The Dorado are still the main event with the largest concentration in the San Juan area around the buoys. Most days limiting out early is not a problem. it’s been a bit of a scratch for most pelagic species. There has been some limited activity around Punta Norte for Wahoo. Nothing crazy.

August 14th! Fishing Report

The Dorado once again seem to be the most cooperative. A little further out on the seamounts big Cubera snapper are on the chew. Further offshore the stripe Marlin are on track. They seem to be hanging in small pods of 3-5 fish so doubling up is not uncommon. Most of the Marlin are released to fight another day.I hate to say the tuna have been a disappointment so far this year. There’s been some reports of Wahoo on the south end of Cerralvo.

Goodbye July! Fishing Report

The waters are stacked with 20-40lb Dorado. Further off shore around the seamounts schools of Striped Marlin are thick and on the chew. 3-5 fish per boat is not uncommon. Of course most of these fish are released so no harm there. Trolling small and medium size lures in darker colors are getting hammered. We had some clients actually pulling lure away from Marlin in pursuit of their lures.
Bottom fishing on the seamounts for giant Cubera snapper is a great way to end your day as well as fill your cooler. Fish to 50lbs are coming in almost daily.

July 17th! Fishing Report

The daily catch rate is definitely stabilizing as the water temperatures are normalizing and clearing up.
The Dorado are the main story. Although these fish are mixed in size they are predominantly large ranging from 25-45 lbs.
With that said most other species striped Marlin, Sailfish, are all on the chew. Trolling medium size plastics or site fishing for tailing fish and pitching a live Mack will do the trick.

June 19th! Fishing Report

Though the Dorado are not concentrated in any particular area they are good size avg 20-30 lbs.
With the cold water returning so has the yellowtail bite. It’s very uncommon to have yellowtail this late in the year but we’ll take it. AmberJacks are still cruising the seamounts.

May 29th! Fishing Report

Normally the yellowtail have moved on by this time of year with the beginning of the Pelagic species working their way up. Well the later is true but the yellowtail are still here a they are big and hungry. Mix a couple of those with a 50lb AmberJack, Cubera snapper and fair size Dorado and you got yourself a fish buffet. Not to mention the cabrilla and Roosters that are eating their way through the massive schools of bait that are everywhere.
