La Paz Fishing Report / October 31st 2021

Weather & Bait

With Moderate crowds and more traditional fall weather the majority of our clients are splitting their days between fishing and enjoying beach and island activities. We had a couple of days of strong winds making it tough to get offshore keeping the boats close in.

Fish Talk

The bay is still full of small to medium size Dorado now mixed with Sierra so that actually worked out fine.
Later in the week the winds died down allowing us to fish the seamounts at El Bajo and the North end of Cerralvo finding cooler water temperatures. These conditions are more in line to get the Wahoo on the chew. The season for these speedsters normally kicks in around mid October so hopefully any day now. We also found a larger grade of Dorado feeding on Bolitos off shore in the current lines and shark buoys. Trolling small to medium size lures or skirted ballyhoos did the trick. It’s been a tough season for our Pelagic species but we still have a couple of months before winter kicks in. It’s not uncommon for the bite to develop during the later part of the season.

Updates of Magbay

The Mag bay trips are in full swing with great fishing but mixed weather. With light winds, we can get out to the famed Thetis bank and the 23. This has been wide open for both Tuna ,Wahoo and huge grouper. During heavier winds we are finding Dorado and a smaller grade of Tuna just out side the entrada. Still great fishing.
The weather looks pretty good all next week so hopefully the water conditions will continue to improve along with the fishing.

Stay safe and keep the faith

Happy Halloween!
