La Paz Fishing Report / June 16th 2020
Folks, it’s looks like we’re a go for fishing! Although not all businesses have been cleared for reopening and some will have limited capacity restrictions the charter business is good to go. All of our captains have been required to attend classes on COVID safety protocols. As with most businesses, there are some things that we will have to impose to meet the safety restrictions, but it’s all good.

We will have to obey some limited capacity restrictions (depending on the length of the boat) normally we don’t over crowd our boats anyway so not much will change there. The restaurants and hotels got the green light to open as well and it looks like the airlines are starting to schedule more flights.
Weather & Bait
The weather has been incredible. The water is warming up nicely and due to the lack of activity on the water, bait is stacked everywhere. The commercial boats have been out fishing through the shutdown and are reporting good fishing for yellowtail, AmberJacks and Dorado and striped Marlin.
We have a few boats fishing tomorrow so I’m hopeful to have a much better idea of what’s going on in a few days. All in all we are very excited about the remainder of the season. With all the bait and lack of fishing pressure we are extremely hopeful for a great summer/ fall fishing once we’re back on track after reopening the local fishing grounds !
What's New
Our Spearfishing branch Pistoleros Del Mar has gone out a couple of times to assess the conditions of the fishing sites, and of course to get ready for the new normal before the official reopening. Our crew are accustomed to wearing Buff facemasks anyway, and we’re happy to be receiving inquiries for the summer and fall seasons.
The power Cat is already starting to book up with its first multi day trip leaving this weekend, and we’re going to slap the brand new stickers after 2 months of deep cleaning, polishing and fine-tuning all of it’s nooks and crannies. It’s maiden voyage was a success, with a fresh fish delivery and all. We’re beyond thrilled right now as the light at the end of the tunnel has only been getting brighter !
