La Paz Fishing Report / December 29th 2019
Weather & Bait
With Christmas to our stern and the New Year with in grasp it’s time to start planning for our 2020 season. With the light fishing crowds during the holiday season we have had a chance to work on our fleet. The boats are looking great. All of the engines have had their scheduled maintenance the hulls have been waxed and fresh Coats of bottom paint have been applied. We are ready to go.
I don’t have much to report on the fishing front as we at Baco took this opportunity to spend time with our families after a busy 2019.
Fish Talk
We did have a charter out on the seamount mid Week. They made mackerel in the bay then straight away to the seamounts . Drifting the Mack’s fly lining, no weights they managed to pick up 2 tuna in the 60 lb class. This is very encouraging. As for the last couple of years we have had tuna hanging around this area thru March. Last year we consistently had 3-6 fish days with 60lb class. By the time the tuna disappeared we were right in the middle of our yellowtail season. Not a bad transition.
We are expecting the Power Cat to be delivered February 1st. If you have any interest in a multi day yellowtail, grouper trip this is an incredible platform which will allow you to stay with in casting distance from the most prolific fishing grounds the sea of Cortez has to offer, not to mention just staying out a few days on the water with your buddies is just an incredible experience.
What's Next
The Cat is filling up fast so please contact us if you have some dates in mind. As it is our busiest time of the year with the whalesharks and expecting the Gray Whale season to be open as well, we’re happy to take a few weeks off the action and wrap up the year.
We hope you all have a fun and safe New Year and looking forward to seeing you at the shows and in La Paz.
Until next week, year & decade
Enjoy our 2020 Fishing Show Reel !
