La Paz Fishing Report / September 12th 2021
Weather & Bait
I started last weeks report talking about how Hurricane Nora turned out to be a non event for us, we’ll not so much the case with Hurricane Olaf.
This storm made landfall somewhere between Thursday and Friday depending on where you live, with San José Del Cabo getting the brunt of it. We still have a lot of cleanup to do and homes without power. Everybody’s working hard to get this done but it’s no easy task.
Fish Talk
So with all that said we only fished a few days before the port was closed.
The best way to sum things up is the Dorado fishing was off the hook.
A quick 15 minute ride up the coast, pick up some bait and you’ll have limits in minutes. The fish are all over the San Lorenzo channel and around the corner by Punta Coyote. Slow trolling sardines or bonito bellies is a instant bite.
Offshore around the seamounts the Pargo/Cabrilla bite is still going strong fishing the structure with sardines or bonito chunk.
The real news will be the effects on the bite due to the storm. We have a few boats out this week. Hopefully the water settles down, time will tell.
Normally, the water will start to cool down a little as we approach October. When this happens the Wahoo bite should kick into gear. Fingers crossed.
That’s it for this week. We have a lot of lean up to do, hopefully no more storms.
Keep the faith
