La Paz Fishing Report
February - March 2025
2025 kicked off with a bang down here in La Paz.
Yellowtail season showed up early this year — and hasn’t slowed down since. Cooler water temps rolled in ahead of schedule, and the fish followed right behind. Since early February, it’s been one steady bite after another.
We’re seeing solid fish in the usual spots — big ones close to town, and huge numbers out on the seamounts. Sardines and mackerel have been easy to come by, and with the north winds finally calming down, the weather’s been just about perfect most days. Those chilly early mornings warm up fast, and the bite tends to turn on right with it.
If you’re a yellowtail junkie, it doesn’t get much better than this — limits have been common, and the action has stayed hot through March.
On top of that, we’ve had plenty of other wildlife around:
- Roosters have started cruising the beaches
- Cabrilla are in the mix
- A few dorado and marlin made early appearances
- Dolphins, humpbacks, and even gray whales dropped into the bay for a surprise visit
We’ve also been running regular trips out to Isla Espíritu Santo, and the conditions out there have been amazing. The scenery, the calm seas, the wildlife — all of it just reminding us why this place is so special.
And a quick update…
We’ve been quietly working behind the scenes on the Baco website — it’s now faster, cleaner, and ready for more. We’ll be posting regular fishing reports again, plus we’ve got some cool new products and updates coming your way. Stay tuned!
All in all, it’s been a killer start to the year.
And the way things are looking… we’re just getting started.

El 2025 arrancó con todo aquí en La Paz.
La temporada de jurel de Castilla se adelantó este año — y hasta ahora no ha bajado el ritmo. Las aguas frías llegaron temprano y los jureles no se hicieron del rogar. Desde principios de febrero, la pesca ha estado encendidísima.
Estamos viendo buenos ejemplares en los puntos de siempre — los grandes más cerca de La Paz, y cantidades brutales en los bajos. Hay sardina y macarela por todos lados, fácil de conseguir, y con los vientos del norte ya más calmados, hemos tenido días espectaculares para salir. Mañanas frescas que se transforman en días soleados y con el pique a todo lo que da.
Si lo tuyo son los jureles, esta temporada ha sido una joya. Muchos están logrando su límite sin problema, y el ritmo se ha mantenido parejito durante todo marzo.
Y además de los jureles, también ha habido bastante movimiento:
- Gallos rondando las playas
- Cabrillas entrando al conteo
- Algunos dorados y marlines haciendo apariciones tempranas
- Delfines, ballenas jorobadas, ¡y hasta ballenas grises entrando a la bahía!
También hemos estado saliendo seguido a Isla Espíritu Santo — y con este clima, los días allá afuera han estado espectaculares. Paisajes increíbles, mar tranquilo, y mucha vida en el agua. Esos días que te recuerdan por qué este lugar es único.
Y aprovechando el espacio…
Le dimos una buena manita de gato a la página web de Baco. Está más rápida, más clara y lista para lo que viene. Vamos a estar publicando reportes de pesca más seguido, y también vienen algunos productos nuevos y cosas muy chidas en camino. ¡No se lo pierdan!
En resumen: un inicio de año brutalmente bueno.
Y todo pinta a que apenas vamos calentando motores.
