The middle of November is usually the time when we all start guessing when the summer fishing will finally start to wind down. This is when we start to see the weather transition from our summer wind pattern to the normal prevailing northerlies.
Water temperature are starting to cool off as the north winds pick up in frequency. By mid week we metered temperatures below 80 degrees for the first time all summer, with greener water starting its annual migration north.
Sardines are still plentiful and required if your target species are Dorado, bonito and all inshore species. The larger baits mackerel and caballitos still haven’t moved in the bay yet but this should happen as the water temp continues to fall.
Fischgespräch
Dorado are still scattered through most of the traditional fishing grounds and easily accessible for full or half day fishing. November rains bring some driftwood out of the arroyos, which then create holding sites for Mahi.
