Fishing in La Paz is slowly improving as spring conditions begin to line up. Yellowtail are starting to show signs of life, roosterfish are active along the beaches, and dorado, snapper, grouper, and almaco jacks are adding variety to the bite.
Baja’s April Bite: Rooster Rampage, Cabrilla Crunch & a 260 lb Surprise
April brought wild swings in weather and even wilder action on the water. The yellowtail run may be slowing down, but roosterfish stole the show — aggressive, visual, and some pushing 60 lbs. Cabrilla are in solid, and offshore surprises included a 260 lb yellowfin tuna on light gear. Classic Baja spring fishing — unpredictable, unforgettable, and just heating up.

2025 kicked off with a bang down here in La Paz. Yellowtail season showed up early and hasn’t slowed down since—with cooler water temperatures setting the stage for one steady bite after another since early February. From solid catches near town to huge numbers on the seamounts, not to mention surprise visits from dolphins, humpbacks, and even gray whales, it’s been a killer start to the year that reminds us why this place is so special.

Semana Santa Angelrausch: Hochsaison für Gelbschwänze in La Paz
Während der Semana Santa herrschte in La Paz eine lebhafte Atmosphäre, und das Wetter spielte trotz einer kurzen Periode starker Westwinde weitgehend mit. Wir befinden uns mitten in der Gelbschwanzsaison, und das ist offensichtlich, denn an den meisten Angelplätzen herrscht rege Aktivität. In den tieferen Gebieten werden gemischte Größen gefangen, während im flachen Wasser weiterhin größere Modelle gefangen werden. Während wir uns auf ruhigere Tage freuen, hoffen wir, dass die reichlichen Fänge anhalten.
