La Paz Fishing Report / November 20th
Good fishing, great kite surfing.
We have definitely seen an increase in tourist this past week. The days are sunny and warm with cool even brisk mornings and nights.
The wind has been blowing pretty good for the past week causing the port to be closed past Balandra Bay for better then half the week.
The good news, on the days we can get out, the fishing has been good. This is the time of year when we get a wide variety of fish. The rocky spots off Espíritu Santos island has been good for Cabrilla and Pargitos trigger fish Snook. All these species are fun to catch on light gear and great to eat. Further off shore the water is finally starting to cool down. We’ve been waiting for this as the north end of Cerralvo has been is full of Wahoo with lock jaw. I’m hoping as the water conditions change we will see these fish become more active and come up in the water column. Last week we found schools of legit 50lb fish around 50 to 60 feet mark. Using planers and ballyhoo we tagged a few of these speedsters.
There’s still some Dorado and Marlin in the area but the bite is not consistent and with the wind coming up the ride home can get pretty bumpy.
There’s word of a yellowtail bite up north, I saw the pictures so I’m assuming it’s real. If so it’s early for them but it would be a nice winter treat.
Not much else to report. The wind is up the rest of the week calming down on Sunday, so not much will happen around here until then.
Have a Happy and safe Thanksgiving
Keep the faith
