La Paz Fishing Report / March 21st 2021

Weather & Visitors

Spring is in the air and the yellowtail are EVERYWHERE! There’s not much else I need to say. The water temperature is between 68-70 degrees with poor visibility. Finally the winds are starting to give way allowing more days and comfort on the water. The days are really comfortable with daytime temps reaching the low 80’s.

Most days bait can be made or bought without too much effort. A real plus.
Last week the bite was on and off. There were literally thousands of fish at depth or on the surface but getting hooked up was tough.

Fish Talk

This week is another story. Although they are not feeding on the same baits each day they are feeding and feeding ferociously. One day it’s macks the next only jigs or sardines. Kinda bazar but since all these baits are available it’s not a problem. Most guest are getting their fill of YT by 10am then heading over to the high spot on the seamounts to finish their day with cabrilla and Pargo. Limits for all. There is not much else I can add other than it’s just a fish fest.

For the most part we are pretty much booked up but, there’s always a cancelation here and there, so if you have any interest in a tug fest with a giant moss back give us a call. It’s happening, don’t miss it. My guess is these fish will spawn on the next full moon. Normally after this event they go nuts and eat everything put in front of them except, they already are. We are starting to see the annual arrival of sargasso grass coming in. This is a great sign that the currents are active and the dorado should not be far behind.
A few whales are still around, it’s a nice treat to watch them peacefully swim by while battling a 40lb bruiser.

Looks like we will have a new addition to our fleet. I will know more next week so stay tuned.
Hope to see you soon
That’s the week
Stay safe
Keep the faith
