It seems like as soon as I start feeling optimistic about everything we get another dose of thank you very much May I have another!
South winds, cold currents, cloudy water conditions and add a sprinkling of COVID-19 and that’s our season. Ugh!
Then this week we topped it off with hurricane Genevieve, closed ports and even worse water conditions. Cabo got spanked with high winds and some flooding, La Paz not much more then cloudy skies and high humidity.
August 23rd Fishing Report Mehr lesen "
It really looked like we are starting to transition into our summer fishing. It’s late but better late then never. We are still pulling a few yellowtail, AmberJack and Pargo off the rocks but the numbers have declined significantly.

Finally Summer Fishing Conditions Mehr lesen "
Summer weather but, not summer fishing. This is not to say fishing is bad, it’s just not what we normally see for this time of year.
The weather is hot and humid, with traditional Coromuel winds in the morning turning into flat calm seas most days.
Incredible Fishing Variety This Summer! Mehr lesen "
Regarding fishing to sum it up in one word, excellent. Not only is the quality and quantity off the charts. Never in my 30 years of fishing the Baja have I witnessed such variety.
It Just Keeps Getting Better and Better Mehr lesen "
This week was possibly the best week yet of the season. Even though the water is not in the best shape with continued upwellings making for mixed temperature greenish conditions. The fish just didn’t seem to care.
Bait is widely available. Again with mackerel in the bay and largest sardines I’ve ever seen sold around Tecolote. Gosh where do I start? To begin with you will hear the word limits a lot in this report.
Best Summer Fishing Week! So Far… Mehr lesen "
Not much has changed in the last week regarding fishing, but we have seen a big increase in tourist here in a puerta Cortes. Unfortunately the beaches and the islands are still closed but fishing is allowed.
Great Summer Fishing Mehr lesen "
Let’s begin with the COVID policies of the week. The beaches are now closed until further notice as well as the Malecon. The restaurants are still open and and offer both limited inside as well as patio and takeout dining. All retail stores are open and alcohol is a available.
Overall La Paz is doing pretty well with compliance. Everyone is wearing masks and all open businesses have attended safety protocol classes and seem to be adhering to them. Fishing is open with limitations as to how many people are allowed in each boat. Example a 26’-30’ boat is allowed to have 3 anglers and 2 crew, 31’-35’ are allowed 5 anglers and 2 crew. Seems pretty normal.
