As I mentioned last week we have large schools of wahoo on all the sea mounts. These fish are not leaving but are only feeding when they have favorable conditions. Usually 3-4 days before and after a full moon and when the currents are running a couple of knots. These fish are the biggest we’ve seen in years averaging 50-60 lbs with some even larger. I have never had so many lures come back completely destroyed. Rápalas, marauders, in red or purple or rigged fresh local ballyhoos on wire it’s crazy again after a slow down during the new moon.

 

We are in the heart of the Black and Blue Marlin season. Although unfortunately the Bisbee didn’t seem over the top this year we are getting a few each week, and to be fair we only have a few boats fishing for them. So I think it’s been a good season for them. They have been running from 200-500lbs. These are long fights so eat your wheaties.

 

The spearos are in heaven. With the huge schools of Dorado and wahoo that are around whether the fish are on the chew or not they are curious and coming when the divers get in the water. I saw one wahoo speared that pushed 80 lbs. We had some beginners this week cutting their teeth successfully on some nice Barred Pargo.

 

Now is the time to come down, the weather is perfect, no storm activity on the horizon winds are light and the fish are here, with one exception where the hell are the Tuna? This has been just bazaar. I keep saying hopefully next week and it turns out no to be. So I will keep you updated.
