Summer is Here to Stay

Weather

SUMMER is here to stay.

Finally, the weather has settled into the NORMAL morning soft coromuel winds tailing off by late morning. The afternoons are windless and hot. Some people are already complaining that it’s too hot, but after the crazy windy and cold spring we had This is a pleasant change.
Water conditions are starting to finally develop into our typical summer patterns.
We’re a couple of weeks behind schedule but it’s happening and quickly. The water inside is still cool and off color but, outside 8-10 miles it’s blue and beautiful. Temps range inside from 76 to 84 outside.

Fishing

The inshore fishing is still strong guessing due to the cooler water close to shore. Our clients are still catching the occasional Yellowtail and Cabrilla. The AmberJacks are still here and destroying as much tackle as possible.

Our spearfishing clients this week shot an underwater video while fishing of the largest school of huachinango we’ve ever seen, CRAZY big. We will share it across our youtube channels soon when we do our summer recaps.

The real story are the Pelagic’s. It’s been a slow start for us here in La Paz. That being said we are actively monitoring the fish as they are steadily marching north as our water is becoming more favorable. Large schools of tuna under the porpoises are 10-20 miles off shore headed north. Still a little out of charter range but the private boat owners who are making the trip are scoring limits of tuna in the 35-45 lb range. Striped marlin are so thick at the south end of Cerralvo we were casting mackerel from a drift boat and hooking up consistently all day. These fish aren’t giants 80-100lbs but are completely nuts on medium tackle.
We’ve seen the dorado action start to come to life as well.

IT’s time if you’ve been waiting for things to turn around before making your reservations wait no longer. Our charters are booking fast.
Can’t wait to see you pinned to a big fish.
